Is Photo Retouching and Photography a good career?

Im a student still in high school , grade 10 to be exact.
For the longest time ive never really known what ive wanted to be.
But recently Ive really had a passion for photo editing (I have gone pretty good at it )
and photography, just with my simple samsung s760 i take pictures of nature and I get tons of compliments on my pictures.
I was wondering if theres careers out there that have both photo editing and photography together.
And are these 2 careers good ?
If so, what should I take in high school now, college and in the neer future .

It's good if you're very good at it and if you love to do it. Definitely take photography classes to learn all the techniques and the science of it. I knew a girl in high school who was phenomenal at photography, and she only got better after taking all the photography classes. I wouldn't be suprised if she owned her own photography studio when she graduates college.

But the thing is that you have to be really really good at it and really enjoy it too. Just make sure it's what you really want to do!

Oh and I agree with the other guy... see if they have photojournalism classes at your HS. They give you really unique opportunities and you might get your photos published in the school newspaper! (If you have one)
