I will be graduating with my MSW (Master of Social Work) in Summer 2011 and am interested in doing international social work and community development. While many people have explained to me that my client-oriented concentration in social work flies in an opposite direction as community development, I feel that in the field of international practice will require me to be versatile and be skilled in both. While I could work on a PhD in Social Work, I feel that my overall interest falls more in the family/community development side of things. Anyone have any ideas or experience with this? Would a PhD leave me overqualified and subsequently out of work? (e.g. being 26 now and a PhD grad under 30)
*I also asked this in the community service category as well.
