Wall Street - and stock exchanges world-wide - are open to staggering levels of corruption. Stock-brokers are of course the first to score (look at Madoff), but all financial institutions are potentially corrupt. Banks are often corrupt at the highest levels of management, not to mention widespread corruption at ordinary branch managerial level.
These mega crooks can easily afford huge sums to "fix" regulatory bodies and politicians all the way to the top.
Pres Obama has already felt the power of populist protest over the health care affair : the pressure in the financial struggle will come from stronger vested interests.
Putin has shown himself strong enough in Russia, and been slated as a tyrant for his troubles! Let's hope Obama will get the support he surely will need and deserves from millions of ordinary decent people. I think they are his best hope.
