...invites the press to the event? The pork was virtually evenly spread between both parties according to the number of seats they hold.

Obviously. No big ceremonies for this one, and tell the press that he'll call them, not them call him.

So.... where is this change he promised? He says he'll relcutantly sign it, but he's saying things like:

"I am signing an imperfect omnibus bill because it's necessary for the ongoing functions of government," Obama declared. "But I also view this as a departure point for more far-reaching change."

You can't enact change by doing the same things and making the same mistakes.

During the campaign Obama promised to stop earmarks and other pork spending, no matter which party put it in. So why isn't he being called on this clear lie.

it's "imperfect" and it's all Bush's fault. GEEZE! If this guy had any backbone he would have told COngress to give him something better. But no, he has to blame Bush for something that the democraps wrote & passed and he signed.

If it wasn't good law, DON'T SIGN THE DAMN THING!

Of course, he is. Obama wants a line-idem veto power. He doesn't have it. The budget he signed was to have been signed by Bush last falll, but that didn't happen. Instead, the government has been limping along on temporary spending measures. If Obama had vetoed the bill, Congress would have had to pass still another temporary spending bill. One smart Republican said, let's pass a temp bill that goes through June 30. That would have been a good deal if the Republicans would also have supported line-item veto. Until we get line-item veto for our president (Democrat or Republican) our budgets will be filled with pork.

He should be ashamed but as long as the people are getting screwed in this country, he is okay with it.
