Is NYU a good University and worth the money?

What you get at these big name universities (I go to Cornell myself) are connections, and you will certainly get that at NYU. NYU is known for all sorts of fields from premed (and med school) all the way to preforming arts.

There are a few schools specific to the arts that are very good even though they are top dollar. For music, hands down, the best is Berklee, but NYU is top of the list also.

Again, its all about the connections you will make at your school, not entirely the education (though of course, the education will be great too)
 
I'm starting to wonder if NYU is all that. From what I understand NYU has many programs but the tuition is nearly 50000 a year. I'm trying to get into the music business is NYU a good place to start. Also what is NYU known for?
 
NYU is a good school. A few years ago the Princeton Review conducted a survey in which it received the greatest number of votes for being America's dream school. It's located in one of the most amazing cities on earth, and you would benefit much from going there, both intellectually and culturally. It has extremely good programs in the arts, as well.

However, cost is definitely an issue. NYU is not known for being generous with its financial aid. Unless your parents make less than $60,000 a year, tuition will be very steep.

If I were you, I'd apply and see what my financial aid package was like!
