Is not brushing teeth for a long while make you less able to quench your thirst?

I only vaguely remember a few cases, that all of a sudden, it seems like even if you drink a lot of water, your thirst isn't satisfied. And it wasn't always like this. And it goes on for a few days until you... brush your teeth after a while of not brushing?
