Is my sport interfering with how girls/guys perceive me?

At the moment, am a very driven college rower. I work hard to row fast. Before college, and after college, I was and will be a driven outdoorsman/explorer/mountain climber.

Because of rowing, I don't have as much time to spend in the outdoors, or with outdoorsy people. I recently met one girl who seemed perfect for me in terms of what she likes to do. She likes to explore and have fun outside. We haven't had much time to develop anything yet if something is going to happen. Although I love the sport of rowing, and the year-round training involved in it, I am worried that it interferes with my ability to get to know the kind of people that I love - a huge part of that is the time involved in it that could be spent elsewhere but also, maybe since I'm a rower now people perceive me as a rower and not a mountain explorer, and that possibly turns off the type of crazy outdoorsy people I love to be around. I'm only a rower for four years, but right now I spend a lot of my waking hours being a rower. I sense a strong connection between attacking a rowing race and attacking a mountain, or cruising along in a rowing boat versus walking on a trail, but I don't know what other people see. Any thoughts?
