I joke. I joke a lot. I'm a person who loves to laugh and I seem to have a more masculine sense of humor. Meaning, I tend to find crude or perverted jokes funny. (Maybe I'm generalizing when I say "masculine", but I haven't met many women who find penis jokes as amusing as I do.) And so, most of my friends tend to be guys with a similar sense of humor. But, a friend of mine just mentioned "flirting", which makes me wonder.
Is my style of humor considered flirting? I don't mean it to be. I joke like that all the time with my friends...in front of my boyfriend, even, who also jokes with us. I think they know me well enough to know I'm not flirting, but what about friends who don't know me as well?
I've been reading about it online and most sources say that genuine flirting expresses interest in the person. Normally, that would be easy to differentiate...but, with my sense of humor, it gets confusing. I don't express interest in individual people, but I tend to joke with innuendos and things, just because they're funny.
I confuse myself.
So far, I'm defining it this way: If I mean to be flirting, then I'm flirting. If not, then I'm not.
