is my motorola droid broken?

ok..i plugged my droid into my computer...when i tried to slide to unlock i wouldnt be able to touch the slider like the touchscreen isnt working...sometimes i would be able to touch it and than slide it a bit but than it would just go back to the same place....is it broken??i have got it to unlock a couple of times but then when it unlocks i try touching an apps icon and it wouldnt work...im touching the screen but it wont touch..its just working....can u tell me if its broken and if it is how much would it cost if i would get it fixed because i didnt even have this phone one month and dont want to have get a new phone
