is my kicker 750 watt amp blown?

i just got it the other day from someone so i dont have warranty but i had it pushing my kicker cvx 12 with has an equal 750 rms but wat a friend mine said happen was that the positive and negative wires were in the wrong terminals. The amp after a little less than an hour cut off and now the next day it wont work i can turn the bass on barley and it cuts off does anyone know what the problem is
