Is my freshwater pet fish sick?

I have a cold water fish called Spot, he is a cheep $5 and I have no idea what kind of fish it is. Recently I have noticed he has very small black dots the size a the end of a needle on his head and a little on his body. They don't look like they are on his skin, they look like they are inside it.

If my fish is sick please tell me and how to stop it. And is it contagious to other fish?
 
i lost 4 of my auarium fish few days ago becouse of their disease.go to where you bought the fish or any other place where they sell aquarium fish and they woul tell you what to do.they would probably give you some medicine.
 
it could be a sort of fungus but it is sort of hard to tell without knowing what sort of fish it is because for some it is normal.
 
It is always a possibility...
I'm curious as to how you acquired this mystery fish?
In order to identify it you could take the fish to your local petshop and ask.
Which would then make the disease identifying a lot easier otherwise theres no way I could help you.
It's possible that it was a juvenile fish and that it is just now showing it's adult markings?
Or it's sick and will infect other fish.
I would put it in another tank so that it doesn't infect any other fish.
