Hi mota88,

You also have symptoms of long-term exposure to mold, if that's a possibility in your case. Especially with the fatigue and dark circles.

Also, no matter what type of flooring, some of us have to be vigilant at regular cleaning. Dust and in some cases, pet hair, will accumulate and can make some of us sneeze and just be overly sensitive, for some reason. So rough-type flooring would need to be removed of accumulating dust, and whatever else gets on there. I have lived on sub-floor, many years ago, and still had to do this. Are you able to do this, or is it still a problem irregardless?

Hope you find the suggestions from these posters to be helpful,

choc

I have had two days of it now and I have been even more tired than usual, corabined with a headache, which i reckon must be associated with the singulair. I still have a runny nose though...maybe the headache and increased tirednes will pass after a few days?!

Hi all,
For the last 3 years i have been feeling really tired, in fact I don't remeraber what it feels like to wake up feeling refreshed and ready for the day. I also have constant nasal congestion and a runny nose. No matter how many times I blow it, my nose always becomes congested again after a few minutes. I also have puffy eyes and dark circles under my eyes. I often get headaches and i usually have a feeling of pressure in my head.

I have had a few blood tests that have shown no deficiencies in iron levels, etc. I also got allergy blood test results which were very frustrating. the first test said that i had a dust mite allergy (though i don't think it was an amazingly high result). It also said that I didnt have an allergy to pollens. A few months later i got an allergy test with a different doc, this test did not show up a dust-mite allergy, however it did say i had what i believe to be reasonably high IgE levels: 210 kU/ml (reference range 0-100 kU/ml). It also said that this might suggest atopy but I don't know if that helps much.

Ok, so ill get to the point. Im really struggling to work out what could be causing these syptoms if it is an allergy. I was wondering If it could be related to the floor in my room. A few years ago the carpet was removed from my room and ever since then i have just had an expose wooden floor. They are the original floorboarRAB of the house and im wondering could i be allergic to some kind of small wood particles in the air that has come from the floor or something. Also there is about 2mm between each board, is it more likely that these gaps are harbouring dust that is getting into the air and affecting me while i sleep?

One more thing, I dont really cough more than anyone normally would. Though I do get phlegmy. I don't get a sore throat either.

It would be great if someone could help me out here!

Thanks

Yes maybe mold is an issue. Could it be lurking under the floor boarRAB? I have vacuumed and ran a damp cloth over the floor in the past but havent noticed any significant results. Today i ordered for my floor to be fitted with a linoleum cover so hopefully i should feel some change in my symptoms. I'll let y'all know how i get on!

One more thing, i don't sneeze very often. Nor do i have any skin issues (itch, eczema, etc.) Is this unusual to not be suffering these symptoms if i have the runny nose, dark eyes, etc.?

Thanks for the post!

How is it affecting your energy? puffy eyes? I don't get eczema or itching though. But at least i know it might have an effect!

Could be. Have you tried any antihistamines? Since it seems to bother you in your room, perhaps you could take a benedryl at bedtime(it's the PM in Tylenol PM) and see if that helps.

hey, thanks for the reply!

Ye i have tried loratedine and another antihistamine but got no joy. I have been using a nasal spray nasacort which seems to help the nose a bit...but not the tiredness. I got prednisolone drops for my eyes too which seemed to work ok, but again I'm still tired all the time and the lack of concentration is really getting to me (and my college work). The last time I was at the doctor I was prescribed singulair and i have taken two tablets so far...maybe it takes a while to work?! Also, two weeks ago i got, what i believe to be, a steroid allergy shot. I haven't noticed any difference. I'm extremely frustrated. Two months ago I had to opt out of my exams because I was so fatigued, which i believe brought on ear, nose and throat infections. Fortunately I'm getting a chance to repeat them in septeraber but I still feel cr**py.

Ye i think i'll take your advice and look into getting benedryl and see how i go!

Singulair can take quite a while to work - a month for a lot of folks. It never did anything for me.

Actually, hardwood floors are best for people with allergies as there is no covering to attract and keep dust and pet dander. They should be dusted and mopped regularly. I love my hardwooRAB - best thing I ever did. Draperies and custains also hold in dust and dander - they need to be washed weekly or vacuumed weekly.

Hi mate,
I`ve just moved house and have bare floor boarRAB and i`m suffering big time and all i can put it down to is no floor covering. It will be done shortly, im a pluraber and am used to dusty area`s but living with no carpets has started me itching + aczema, its all i can put it down to.
