recently, my betta fish has been acting really depressed.

so i have her in my room, and for christmas break i slept in my basement.

i fed it like, every 2 days.

when break was over, i cleaned the bowl.
(it was pretty bad)

and now my betta just sits on the rocks all day.
i feed it, and thats when it swims.
then it goes back.
its like its depressed or something.

the bowl is really clean, now that i cleaned it.
but my fish is still acting up.

is she dying?
(i have had her for about 6 months)
ok, thanks for telling me about leavin a bit of the old water in when you change water.I HAD NO CLUE!!
i used to just put my betta in a different bowl, and dump all the old water out.
(because they food and poo crap was all in it)

so wait, if your fish goes into shock, will it snap out of it???

feed her every day rather than just every other day. adn get her some exciting food. I dried blood worms. They are energy boosters. Also she may be lonely. if you upgrade to a slightly larger bowl/tank (atleast 5 gal) then you could get her a friend. My female betta's best friend is a guppy. they adore each other! Good Luck! (i dont think she is dying but you may want to take some of your tank water to petsmart and have them test it for you to make sur eit is ok) also check for any unusual markings or lack of fins etc. If you find any let me know and i will set you up with the right medications

well, if she was really used to dirty water, than the clean water probably shocked her. she will probably be fine just giver her time to adjust and dont clean it too soon. next time you clean it try swapping half the water at a time

I would believe so but i love fish and all the that ive had before they die they just sit down or they sleep inside the house or just DIE hih

You are overfeeding. Betas don't need to eat often. Try feeding it small amounts every 3 to 4 days. They are like horses in that they will eat themselves to death if you let them.

Bettas aren't known for being very lively,so it's probably fine as long as it's eating.
