My parents told me to clean the fish bowl because when his bowl is dirty he gets really sad, well I cleaned it and he's still sad! He stays at the bottom almost laying on his side? I dont know what this means and I really want to know if he's sick and if there is a way to cure it. I have had him for two years ( He turned two in February) And I thought it was because he was ready to die or something but I really need help, he is my life, the only pet I have and the longer he lived the closer I got to him and he's been alive for two whole years

i have MILLIONS of betta fish.i have some that do that. what i did is i got a big tank and gave them a girl friend!^^ or you need to just give him something to do. like get a double tank and get another male.

Thats definately not normal. Betas USUALLY live 3-5 years. First, see if he wants to eat. If he doesnt, see if when you turn on the filter, he swims against the currnet. If none of that works, hes probably either sick or depressed. Go to a pet store and they have little fish tank supplements that you can give to him. If he's still sick, take him to a vet (yep vets do that, my parents are vets, but its gotta be a big fish). He might be dying, and it might be time to say byye ):
Make sure you clean his take VERY frequently till hes better, feed him regularly but not too much, and keep the filter on. Put those supplements in his tank, and hope for the best!!!!
