Is my 1998 Honda Civic Coupe a deathtrap? (Prefer answers from Civic owners or other

knowledgeable car people)? I recently bought a 1998 Honda Civic Coupe, my very first car. One of the main factors in my car choice was safety... I saw on MSN Autos that this Civic had a 4 star frontal crash rating. And overall it had Good and Acceptables on the frontal offset crash test. I thought this was pretty safe for a car of its age. (I've also always heard Hondas were one of the safer makes.) HOWEVER...the side crash test rating wasn't listed on msn autos...I thought it just wasn't tested. I guess oblivion really is bliss ha ha. Yesterday I saw on a different site that in a side accident, there's only a 3 star rating for passenger side and only 2 stars for the my (driver's) side!

Now I'm afraid I'm going to die whenever I get into my car.

I know compact cars are never the safest, but I always hear that Civics are one of the safest small cars. Has anybody here ever experienced an accident in a Civic? Or do you know anyone who has crashed a Civic? What was it like?

I read a few reviews on older Civics that also said the airbags have a nasty habit of not deploying in an accident...Is this common with all older cars, or is this just a specific problem the civic?
