Hi guys,

Looking to transfer music to my Nokia E61. Should i convert songs to M4A or leave them as MP3? What is the better sound quality? I have the 2 gig chip so lots of memory.

Thank You

M4A generally has better sound quality...IF you converted music to that from the CD in the first place. I'm not sure if you mean you want to convert mp3 to m4a because thats pointless in regards to sound quality. Converting one lossy format to another of similar or lower bitrate ALWAYS yields poorer sound quality.

Therefore, I hope you mean that you want to know what format is best to rip CD's into.

MP4 sounds LESS than good MP3's (like 256 vbr Lame encoded). And yes this can be heard very clearly on a Symbian phone! This only requires a good headset, not the shower-caps that come with the phone...

but we are not talking about any other devices here other than S60, not that i have anything against those teeny-weeny MP3 players that can now be bought for U$99.99 for 3 units, and soon to be free when you buy a Big Mac meal...

using ogg or m4a is like using a mac it works, sometimes better, but a lot less compatible. especially when you go and convert all your music to some weird format and then want to put it on a different device and can't or are restricted as to what hardware you can buy.

most phones can nowadays... se has for a while and motorola too... seems like some s60 have a hard time playing m4a's though.. still occasional stutter on my last n80ie...no issues on my e61 though
