Is Mirrors any good?

I didn't think it was particularly any good, i have seen better Asian horror films which is evidently the reference point where Mirrors' plot has derived from, its got some neat special effects but none of them really compensate for the film being a bit of a dumb attempt at making an American version of an Asian ghost film.
 
ahh I see, that always seems to be the problem, I find asain films better than american so that's why I was hesitating on seeing mirrors.

Mirrors isn't a direct remake of any particular film but you can tell whoever wrote the script wanted to make something that was at least on a par with an Asian horror film, i think one of the main problems with it is once again its style over substance which is the problem with most American films, the special effects take precedence over everything that happens, and its as if every special effect has to be a setpiece rather than anything subtle and minimalistic which is something Asian horror directors do so much better.

I dunno, i just didn't think it was up to much, i have seen much better films that deal with similar themes like the incredibly creepy Session 9, which is a damn great film until it loses the plot in the final third of the film.
 
I have to disagree with everyone - I liked it!

I thought the portrayal of the "possessed" girl was well done, particularly the strange way she couldn't be photographed as her head was always a blur - presumably due to the demon(s) who were possessing her. Beats a head spinning 360
 
I thought it was distinctly average. It could have been a TV movie. There was 1 good, gruesome death in it, apart from that it was fairly predictable, standard guff. Worth a watch at home, not at the cinema IMHO.
 
Haven't seen the original but I was creeped out by this. Great performance from KS and some great fx. Keeping the crew from being accidentally reflected must be a job in itself.
Worth a look just to see Jack Bauer pulling a gun on a nun.:eek:
