I'm having a really tough time trying to figure this one out.
IF YOU DON'T FEEL LIKE READING YOU CAN ANSWER THE MAIN QUESTION, THE REST IS JUST FILLER:
Ever since I was young, I was raised to be kind. Treat those as you would treat yourself. Fair logic, right? However the world does not reciprocate this(however I'm not suggesting that I deserve kindness). I've seen(first hand) that kindness leads you to being controlled, punished, bullied and that in some respects this makes kindness is a form of weakness.
I ask this because I've recently had to reacquaint myself with some people (yes, those who I've been kind to and that have f*cked me over) who I've known before and I don't know how to deal with the situation. My first instinct is to be polite, but truth be told since the last time they met me, I've become far more cynical, rude and short tempered and have no intention of becoming some f*cking degenerate cretin any more...but at the same time, I don't want to become blatantly rude and sink down to their level. This also applies for how I interact with people in general. I'm getting sick of having to be nice to everybody.
Any advice?
