I am sure some of you have heard of Capt. Robert Semrau. He's currently on trial in Canada. His squad was accompanying a company of Afghan Army soldiers. They came across harassing fire several times, and he order a Apache strike on the position. After the strike, the company swept the area; they found dead a combatant, but also an extremely wounded insurgent. The Afghan company had no proper military training and were in fact kicking the wounded insurgent; as well the company had no medic. Capt. Robert Semrau told his men to turn around saying "no one should suffer like this", and that he would want an insurgent to do to him, what he was about to do if this should happen. He then proceeded to put two bullets in the insurgent. On trial, he does not deny killing the insurgent; neither does his comrades...however, he is pleading not guilty. So...I ask, in situations like this, are mercy killings acceptable?
