is it worth it taking someone to small claims court for $300 in CA?

I loaned a friend $300 back in April of this year and for the last 2 months she has been avoiding me and not returning any of my phone calls. I have the deposit slip when I deposited the money in her account but that is it.

Unless you are in a position where $300 is trivial to you, then heck yes it's worth it.

You can sue for the $300 plus filing fees and cost of effecting service.

You cannot include things like lost wages to go to court, travel costs to get there, and similar.

your filing fees are going to about that amount but you should be able to ask for them to cover all your fees if you win
