Is it weird to put peas in chicken and waffles?

That's how my mum always made it, and I like it that way, but other peeps are like "wtf? who does that?!"

I'm vegetarian now, so instead of chicken, I use mushroom gravy, and still put the peas in.
Peas is good in it because they get stuck in the waffley grid.

Not only is it weird to put peas in chicken and waffles, but it is weird to serve chicken and waffles on the same plate, imo. LOL no offence - just never heard of it before.
 
As long as it they are not canned. Frozen or fresh would be a nice little burst of a savory sweetness.

I like corn ro peas in a lot of things people wouldn't normally put them in.
