Is it weird to have a mother daughter dance at a wedding?

I don't know my dad very well and don't want to... My fiance thinks I should do a mother daughter dance at the reception instead of a father daughter dance since my father will not be there at all. I'm having my uncle walk me down the aisle

It is a GREAT idea. You can open it up after a minute into the song for all the moms and daughters who are there and they will love it. Anything that is different is what makes your wedding special and unique. There's no sense in following traditions for the sake of the traditions. This has to come from the heart and it sounds like it is. Go for it!
