Is it weird to date a guy with the same last name?

We get along perfectly and except for the physical aspect, it is almost as if we have been in a relationship for more than two years. Nothing has happened because I've always worried that we would find out that we were distantly related or about what people would think. It is a relatively common last name for Irish people but not common where we live. All of our friends want us to get married and be together. but How weird is that?
