Is it weird to date a guy 3 years younger then me?!?

I live in a very small town so i've known this kid for many years and for like 9 or 10 years he was on my little brothers traveling baseball team and i always used to tell my mom that he was going to be a good looking kid when he is in high school and too bad he wasn't 3 years older..... Well im now 20 and he is 17 a junior in high school and we recently started talking... i think i really really like him but im really worried about what the town will think. And not to mention his mom has been my hair dresser for like 15 years and we have had talks about him and his girl friends and she never talked very nice about them. Im afraid she will be upset with me and i really like her... What do i do?
 
Unfortunately 20 is to old for a 17 year old. And this young man at 17 is gonna go through alot of personal changes. and if you really do like this man wait until he's at least 18 so at least it will be legal.
