Is it weird to call a guy you like when he never gave you his home phone number?

I really like this guy and he likes me too, but we are both to shy to make a move. he asked me if I wanted hang out a long time ago but it never happened. he was disapointed i heard, and I was too, so i finally got the courage to ask, and i was wondering if it would be weird to call him up. He never gave me his number and i have never called him before. should i wait until i see him tonight at a birthday party? or should i see if he can hang out today?
 
Yes it would be weird to call him. How did you get his number anyways? If you are seeing him tonight I would definitely wait to talk to him then.
