Is it weird to bring a friend on a blind date?

I met this guy online, and we have never met face to face before. We have actually only talked on the phone once. I have planned to meet him for dinner on Sat. and also see a friend of his, band. I have never been on a blind date before, let alone with some one I don't know. Would it be weird to invite my friend to come along. I know I would feel a lot more comfortable.
 
I would bring a friend along...you never know what can happen, and just like the poster before me said, if you get the heeby jeebies from this guy, or you just don't think the nights going well, you can use your friend as a way out! Good luck though, hope you have fun!!
