Is it weird that I'm gay, yet I don't like gay culture?

I am gay, but there is nothing about "gay culture" that interests me. I am the exact opposite of the stereotype. I don't like clubs, I don't care for dance music, I am more into Classical and Chillout. I have no interest in fashion, besides looking good when I have to. I have never gone to a gay pride anything and don't intend to. I facepalm when gay friends of mine act like that stereotype.

I am literally embarrassed when people around me act to the gay stereotype. I'm not a self hater, I am perfectly fine with being gay, but I find the stereotypical gay guy not only embarrassing to be around, but I also feel mildly disgusted by it.

Is that weird? Is it intolerant of me, or am I just sensible, whereas many people just go off the deep end and make their sexuality the most interesting thing about them, the thing that defines their life?

It doesn't make you intolerant to not fit with a certain culture, nor does it make you "weird".

I don't fit in with a lot of what is considered "black" culture, but I don't find it weird at all. I don't fit in a large part of what is considered "gay" culture, but I don't find it weird at all.

I don't even fit in with a lot of "American" culture!

Nothing wrong with that at all.

Tell your friends that they don't have to prove to you that they are gay. Tell them you already know. Maybe they will tone it down a little when they are around you afterwards.
