Is it weird that I don't want to date until I am 18?

I just feel like i wouldnt be 100% commited if i was in a relationship at 16 & i sort of want to enjoy whats left of my childhood and not be held down by having a serious bf. Does this sound weird?
Also i feel like i wouldnt be able to do so much things but when im 18 i'd be able to do anything & have freedom.
