is it weird 2 like anime and magnas?

well ppl my age which is 11 think anime is for babies i disagree but when i said i like it they treated me like i was a retard i mean most anime r like ma or m unless it pokemon and do u think i should have out grown it??
 
OK, I am an Otaku (not a radical otaku, but a serious collector of anime, film, and anime merchandise). I have enjoyed animated film since I was a kid. I will post a few things about me here...you decide if I am a "baby," OK?

I am 59 years old.

I have MA and Ph.D. degrees in Clinical Psychology.

I have a Master of Public Administration degree.

I am an Intermediate level Japanese Language Learner.

I retired at 55 from a career as a Psychologist and Counselor.

I am married to a Psychiatrist. (...who worked her way through Medical School by doing freelance animation and editing for a major anime production company.)

Last year at Halloween, my wife and I held a cosplay party.

Now, if that qualifies me as a "baby," I am going to stay a "baby" for the rest of my life.

Who cares if it is cool or not? I also collect model trains...is that cool or uncool? Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen both think it is "cool." Neil Young is even a part owner of Lionel Trains. :-) AND, one of the biggest anime fans (especially Evangelion) is the comedian Robin Williams...is he cool?

Just enjoy what you enjoy...and don't let others run a "mind game" on you. If you like anime, watch it and enjoy it.

When you get to high school, it's not at all like how it's portrayed in media. You aren't considered a "baby" for liking something like anime or manga. In fact, there are a bunch of REALLY popular anime clubs at my school.


I truly don't get what the deal with anime/manga is.
It's just a highly detailed cartoon. Watching/reading it shouldn't be any different than watching The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack [which I love! =D] or something similar.


Even if your friends don't like it, don't stop doing what you like just because they don't like it. I'd even force them to watch something with you. They might end up liking it.

There's nothing weird to be liking anime and manga.

Why would it be weird when the creators themselves are much more older? They are the creators, and they are the experts as well.

There are a lot of older people who like anime and manga. Some are even in their 40s and they like anime and manga.

There are some people who don't try to even understand while some don't even want to. They just base it off on the surface of things.

Sure, some series would look like it, but most of them are not. Babies can't understand the concept of anime and manga. It may look cartoonish, but its not.

Anime and manga has a lot of varieties of differences. Its just like people. There's all kinds of different races as there are animals with different species.

Its totally cool that you like anime and manga. Don't be afraid to do what you love most.

Most of my friends adore the anime thing, we're all just really open with our loves and obsessions. Who cares if people think it is childish?! They just don't like the idea of people seeing them as a bit of a kid, and not a strong adult.
What the hell.
(Just 4 the record, i LURVE any anime and Manga, also a few pure kiddy movies such as Sinbad/Treasure Planet/Toy Story...ect.
Why give up somthing you love 4 other people?

Half of my school loves anime and manga.
Don't worry im 15 i currently got bored of Pokemon when i was 14 but i still watch Yugioh :)
I love anime doesnt matter how old you are anime rocks
just ignore them just because you have a different interest to them.
 
No. People claiming anime is for babies need to get their facts right. Most of the posters have already answered your question very well so I'll simply give my opinion: manga is an advanced, mature form of the comic book, and many of them are actually aimed at adults covering deep subject such as love, life and death, morality, sexuality, technology, folklore, and many more. So enjoy your next tankobon and ignore the ignorant. :)
