Is it typical for cats not to like cat food containing fish?

I feet my two cats Wellness canned cat food. They clearly prefer the formulas without fish (turkey, chicken, beef and chicken) to those with fish (beef and salmon, turkey and salmon, chicken and herring). Is it ok to cater to their preferences and only buy their favorites, or it is important for them to get some fish in their diet?
 
Cats don't seem to like certain fish. My cat is going through a phase of refusing Whiskas pouches with tuna but likes the salmon and especially the prawn ones. He likes IAMS dry food with ocean fish in it. Previously he had a phase of refusing to eat all cat food in pouches, preferring to hold out for some Donegal Catch cod and whiting fillets (food for humans). He used to like rabbit (caught two of them and ate them at our front door) and lamb but had a phase of disliking chicken too. They have to get protein though - they are obligate carnivores.
