Is it true that one of the reasons why Laird gave up on TMNT was due to80's fans?

From what I heard, in the Mirage blog, Laird stated that he was burned out from the various hate mail he received from the 80's fans, apparently "ignoring" them.

While I heard that he did sell TMNT to Nick, I am not so sure on his reasons for doing so. Was it because he was too tired from the franchise?

Where did he say that? From what I've read on his blog it was more creative burn out coupled with weariness of managing the enormous multi media empire TMNT has become.

Everybody should go to Laird's own blog for the full story.

Oh I'm sure Mirage gets it's fair share of hate mail, so does anyone who owns a property with a long established fandom, that's what the other kind of shredders are for. But I really doubt anyone would give up a multi-million dollar franchise just because some fanboy considers not giving Leatherhead a Cajun accent on par with eating puppies.

Is this a joke thread? What the hell would Laird care about hate-mail toward a videogame? Peter Laird doesn't answer the mail at ninjaturtles.com, that is done by Dan Berger, one of Mirage's employees.

Peter Laird has always said he intended to sell TMNT someday, it has NOTHING to do with "fans."

Stop the conspiracy theories before rumors get taken as facts.
