Is it true that in French Toyota MR2 means Toyota sh*t?

2 craps. The general term for sh*t is merde. Cool. The old chevy Nova didn't sell very well in Spanish speaking countries as it translated essentially to "doesn't go."
 
It doesn't literally mean sh*t, but it does sound very similar.
The French pronunciation would be em-er-deux, which sounds like "merde".

For this reason, the MR2 was always badged "MR" (without the "2") in France and Belgium.
