...pictures then Nikon? I am comparing Canon SX30 IS and Nikon P500 sample images from following location

http://ebay.dzone2.com/genhtml/p500sx30/p500sx30.html

and i found that Canon's images are sharper and better. So i went on to a shop and asked the guy there about it.He said that Nikon's images are always softer and Canons in the same class always sharper.

I am really confused with better HD recording and zoom I want to buy Nikon P500. Please help!

Common statement, and is actually true, but not because Canon is better than Nikon.

Out of the box, a Canon camera is set to enhance sharpness, contrast, and saturation. Point and shoot or DSLR doesn't matter. It's how Canon sells their cameras.

Nikon, on the other hand, sends their cameras out set to neutral contrast, sharpness, and saturation.

If you take that Nikon camera, go into the menu, and set the sharpness, contrast, and saturation to +2, the images will look just like a Canon took them. If you take a Canon and set the menu to -1 or -2 for those settings, it will look just like a Nikon took them.

Nope

The sharpness of the image has more to do with the skills of the photographer.

Any camera can shoot sharp photos.

The P500 is an excellent camera
