Is it true that anti-war types in 1780s Great Britain helped America win independence?

I've read that 1780s Great Britain's equivalent of anti-war activists were as effective as George Washington in winning the American Revolution by hobbling the British government's pursuit of the war. Did Britain's liberal equivalents help us? Gives new meaning to "my enemy's enemy is my friend" LOL !
