Is it true sometimes a urine test doesn't always detect a pregnancy?

I have taken various urine tests and they all come out negative, but a friend told me I should go get blood drawn because I could be one of the few that the urine test doesn't detect the hormone or something of that nature. Oh ya the reason I ask because I have a few symptoms that can be related to pregnancy and I haven't had my menstrual cycle in 2 months, and we are aren't planning a pregnancy but we aren't protecting ourselves to prevent one either. I know I should just go to the doctor but I really am trying to avoid the blood test. My period isn't exact every month but skipping months is out of the norm, and I really don't want to go to the doc for them just to try to prescribe me some birth control, I tried it once and the side effects really kicked my butt!

no pregnancy test is 100 percent.
I recommend going to the doctor and talking to him/her about it. They will give you a more accurate test and, if it isn't pregnancy, they will tell you what it is and give you ways to fix it.

Yes that is true. And some women even get there period still when they are pregnant. I have a friend who had her period every day for 6 months (and im not kidding at all) and the doctors were shocked to find her 5 months pregnant when she went in and had a pelvic exam. They thought she was only a few weeks pregnant cuz she took a test and it showed positive. She told them she had been bleeding every day of every month like normal until it stopped then she thought she was pregnant. They assumed since she had been bleeding that it was not possible. She has some kind of disorder to where she bleeds like that every month. It sounds crazy and bizarre but i assure you this is 100% fact. She now has a healthy one year old.

I also know of a woman who took a pregnancy test every week of her pregnancy and they all showed up negative even after the doctor confirmed she was pregnant. She just kept taking them out of curiosity. She also failed the blood tests too. It sounds strange, but hey...

Anyways i would go to the doctor. There is no reason not to. Tell them you think you are pregnant and if the blood test doesn't show it get an ultra sound. If you care about the health of your maybe baby then you should no questions asked. And by the way my doctor told me that the urine test at home and the docs are very similar.

sounds like it..but if you arnt and you dont want to become pregnant i would try a diffrent form of birth control i heard the nuva ring works nice..i tried birth control pills before and they made me soo sick..well it you arnt protecting yourself and having sex the odds are great!!
