Is it too late for me to get into wildlife/documentary film making?

I'm 22 and I have an MSc in human evolution and am about to start a 9 week course in documentary film making. As I have little to no experience using a camera is it perhaps too late to get into film making? I worry that using a camera is probably something that takes a long long time to learn and that maybe if I haven't started already then I'll never be good at it.

If you are a good student, you should be able to learn the techniques of film making fairly easily. Film making is about content and seeing, not just about equipment and technique. Equipment and technique are important for good technical results, but a good film maker also has a knack of knowing what is interesting content and what is not. Your training in science of course will help you tremendously in figuring out what is interesting content.
