Is It Today's Society & Culture Fault That?

People have to be a certain way?

For example, people nowadays worry about how others will react to their weight, looks, lifestyle, sexual orientation etc. When it comes to weight, yeah it's normal, I mean its a choice you make that does affect your health and your appeareance, but I certainly don't believe its anybody else's problem. When it comes to looks, people try to imitate celebrities accordingly to magazines/media, which I think is a natural instinct because you wanna look a certain way, not like everyone else and you do wanna feel comfortable. And when it comes to lifestyles, not everyone has the same income as others. Also, people love to make fun at gay couples, they're regular people who just happen to like the same gender and I do feel that banning gay marriages is discrimination.

My point is, since today's society & culture has changed, why do others like to comment and make fun of others because they're not the same as others?

I mean, I dress preppy/punkish, I'm average and I have a job and yeah I'm straight I love men. But I don't like making fun of others because of their overall lifetyles. Many people actually do self-mutilation because they're not like other people, and that applies pressure for that person to take things to a certain point. But then, its about how they take things psycologically, which I think is linked to the society/culture.

So what do you think? Is it society's fault? Or more psycologically?
