Is it the transmission or the clutch? (2004 Dodge Neon SXT)?

I got my clutch changed about 4 months ago. My wife said the car was "humping" and the mechanic said that was the problem.

Last night, I drove down the highway, and all of a sudden my engine started reving, but I wasn't pulling forward anymore.

I parked on the side of the road, and I tried to put it in different gears... sounds fine, revs fine, but doesn't move an inch.

Mechanic on the phone said it sounded like the people who put the new clutch in didn't do a good job at it.

I only have 76k miles on this car and drive it very carefully. It is a manual V4 (Dodge Neon SXT).

Given the information I've given you, what'd be your guess? An incorrectly installed clutch, or a blown transmission?

I've never reved it in to the red. Gas is fine. A price estimate, if you're able to see the future, would be greatly appreciated, too.
 
Take it back and tell them they did a lousy job on the clutch and need to fix it. Doesn't sound like the transmission to me... They *should* fix it for free but since it's been 4 months you'll probably end up paying for new parts again (which aren't that expensive, its the labor and fees that are) - but I'd be pissed if they wanted to charge labor again too...
 
i think its your clutch. ive changed my clutch in my firebird 3 times. just take it back
 
First off check your fluids. Sometimes you will have a leak in your clutch master cylinder causing the car to not "fully engage".
The clutch would have started to slip if it was incorrectly instaled so unless that has been a problem then thats not it.
And if your tranny was blown then you wouldnt be going in any gears at all....
So start there, and if it does leak you are going to need a new one, but that is an easy fix mate.
