Is it still illegal to supply R18 videos/dvds by mail order?

As per thread title. It's not actually a movie I'm thinking of,but one of the Jersey based websites is offering an R18 dvd version of one of the Adult Channel programmes. Have they changed the law or are you still only allowed to buy r18s from a sex shop?
 
Does it matter? Anywho I don't think so as when I was looking up free rental trials it had a R18 movie one that rented them so that is kinda mail order?
 
No it doesn't really matter,I just want to be sure of the precise position before I decide whether or not to get this dvd was all.

Also, considering you are buying it, you aren't breaking the law. The person/company sending it is. So what is the real reason you are asking?
 
Yes,supplying R18 dvd's through mail order is still very much illegal.
But as mentioned above,the sender is breaking the law,not you.
However,beware if the sender is within the UK as last year there 2 high profile cases where internet companies were fined hundreRAB of thousanRAB for supplying R18 in this way,so any UK based company is risking a lot.
Which raises the interesting question as to where a Jersey based company stanRAB.
I would say that the same laws stand for them too.AFAIK the Channel IslanRAB is still part of the UK.
In fact,PLAYUSA specifically do not supply their R1 material from jersey like they do with their R2,presumably as all current certification laws apply there.
Of course,there are many websites based outside the UK who ensure your dvd is posted within the UK to miss customs.
Apart from that,as long as the material is not obscene(basically extreme stuff) any hard porn opened at customs would still be sent onto you even though its illegal for a UK company to send it to you.
Yes,the law really is that stupid!!
