(only the first two paragraphs hold the very relevant details, and there's another smallish question in the fourth)
I recently got a letter saying that, although i was a great student, I did not "win [this particular] scholarship award." I was really hoping to get this scholarship, and thought I had done really well at the interview. At an information session, they said, they do not have some type of waiting list of plan B for the scholarship money which is turned down by some of the accepted candidates, that they just hold onto it.
I was wondering if it would be rude to ask for my scholarship application to be reconsidered, or if i should just apply to become an "associate" of the scholarship program.
...Part of me says I'm an idiot for considering not asking to be reconsidered, another part reminds me it's rude to ask for money. But, they are a scholarship committee... not sure what to do here.
OH, also, if it's rude to ask to be reconsidered, is it ok if I follow up and ask how I might be able to improve to make myself a better candidate?
...Ok, seriously, last slightly relevant thought, I feel like a crazy ex-gf who is trying to find out what she did wrong that made her deserve this, which also adds a little to my hesitation to ask... Fear of being an annoyance.... Im gonna stop with the details now...
