Is it right for a man to think a woman's place is to cook and clean?

My simple-minded daddy thinks this, and i just wanna know if it's true. I don't think it is and i think he's head is struck in the 1950s.

His head is stuck in the 50's. It is not like that these days, but that is probably the way he was brought up and taught, so don't hold it against him. :o)

did you delete my answer? I'm confused... no it's not ok, and no woman should ever want to be with a man who wants her to just cook and clean and not make anything of her life. Come join us in 2009.

not atall. my dad is the chef of the house, and my brother does alot of cleaning, as well as the rest of us. men an women are and always should be equal. it is no-ones decided place to do certain things, no matter how femanin or masculan they may seem.

If it's the mans place to go and earn the bacon then yes it is. I don't think it's fair to expect a working man to come home after work to cook and clean.

However, these days men and women both work - so cooking and cleaning is usually divided amongst the two.

You can always be willing to help out, but no, the duty shouldnt fall soley on the woman's shoulders. My dad is the same way, but I have a BF who is a wonderful cook and loves to keep a clean house for me. :-)
