if it is, what should i use as an alternative so i wouldn't keep on buying those bottles?

Yes it's true. While it takes a lot of energy to recycle it, at past about 100 degrees farenheight(sp?) these bottles start to off-gas carcinogens. Yes, that means even in a car on a hot-day they start getting dangerous, get a thermos, and a tap filter, that's what this water is anyway, there's a very popular one at the moment, but I can think of the exact name, eco-bottle, or something like that.

I think that's fine to re-use mineral bottle used; offcourse it is depend on the purpose of re-use itself.

The issue with bottled water is typically that small cracks can appear in the plastics and those are areas for bacteria to grow and what not. It's almost always harmless unless you have years upon years of occurrences. I'd suggest carrying around a bottle made to be refilled then you'll be fine.

Since this question is listed in environment I'll add that the cost in fossil fuels of importing bottles of water from all over the world is huge and a fairly serious problem for environmentalists. Especially as most local water sources are safe and provide all the same benefits water.

I wash mine with soap and water or put them on the top shelf of the dish washer.
Germs gone.
