is it really that bad to have strictly outdoor cats?

I have 3 cats. 2 of them, a brother & sister from the same litter are about 5 years old. I love them, but I'm about to kick them outside permanently because they have issues with urine spraying/marking. They have been indoor/outdoor so it's not like they wouldn't know what to do outside. We have a really big doghouse (which the dog never uses) in the backyard for shelter. We live in a subdivision which I think is pretty safe. I'm just at my wit's end- we have a new baby & I don't have time to worry about the cats spraying. I don't think the baby is the real issue for them because they've had problems with marking in the past- I think it's just their way of dealing with any kind of stress. I've tried feliway, but I'm really not sure if it even worked & there's no way we can afford it at this time.
Anybody have any other ideas? I've tried finding another home. I don't want to take them to a shelter where they may be euthanized. I'm going to try the SPCA, but I know it's the beginning of "kitten season" so they may not be accepted, especially with the history of marking. any suggestions are much appreciated!
