Is it really "all fair in love and war"?

The phrase means, to me, that when you are willing to go to extremes for a purpose...then there are no boundaries on what can happen. I believe that in war; but I think the word 'love' has a bilateral appeal and was inserted for it's direct opposition to the word 'war'.

Until everyone does unto others as they would have them do to them...it kinda has to be. Everyone makes mistakes and deals with others mistakes. Thats the way it has always been. What you do to others eventually comes back to you. And what others do to you comes back to them. If you let things get to you too much you miss out on alot of great things in life. Whatever will be will be...so...you just have to take it as it comes and live and let live.

Hi,
What 'fair' means in this context is that anything goes in love and war; and you are right, love and war are not equal or fair. Love is a feeling and war is destruction. No comparison. Best Wishes!

i don't think so either, i think when you love some one & bad shit happens if you truly love that person your not going to let them take the hit no matter what so this is unfair but this is love.in my head this pertains when your in love. on the other side love & war get a fuckin backhoe.
