Is it practical to ride around on a unicycle or is a bicycle alot easier?

unicycling is much harder. you need a lot of balance, and most people tend to cycle slower to help with the balance (this works). it does take more physical effort to ride a unicycle because of this, going uphill is very difficult because of the effort. i do not believe there is a way to slow down, (no brake) you just have to stop pedaling. it is not practical unless it is for show.

I always thought it'd be cool to learn how to ride a unicycle and ride it around, aside from learning how to actually ride one without hurting yourself what I want to know is this:

Does it take more physical effort to move on a unicycle than on a bicycle? are there problems going uphill or slowing down as fast as a bicycle?
NOTE: YES I realized it is harder to learn, but assuming you're a master cyclist and can ride a bicycle just as well as a unicycle would it take less physical effort to get from point A to point B with a unicycle or a bicycle? Let's assume the tires are the same radius unless one usually has bigger tires or something, I don't know!
