Is it practical to have a sports car in the winter ?

I thinking of buying a sports car (infiniti g35 coupe or nissan 350z) but would that be a problem in the winter for me. I live in nyc and i'll be commuting via highway with my car. So would there be any issues with having a car like this in the winter b/c of the snow, sleet, ice, etc..

Cars have a thing called tires that decide whether the performance is good in different types of weather.
