Is it possible to update my LG Axis to Froyo or Gingerbread?

I have an LG Axis through nTelos (local CDMA carrier), and it has the 2.1 Eclair OS. I would like to update the OS to a more current one. I see that Verizon and other carriers have the Froyo update for their version of the same phone, is it possible to get a software update directly through Google? I would appreciate any help you can offer!
my phone is already rooted, however I am unable to find any Froyo custom roms
 
To get an upgrade, the manufacturer, carrier, and Google all have to decide it's worth the effort. It looks like it's possible (because Verizon's gotten the FroYo update); if T-Mobile does not see the phone as worth the time/effort to go through the process, then you won't get it. (Judging from a quick search, it doesn't look like it's hapapening, at least any time soon.)

You may be able to find an option by rooting your phone and installing a FroYo ROM.
