Is it possible to undeclair your major in order to get the full amount of financial aid?

I attend a community college in California and have zero $ as my expected contribution towards college. Now they are telling me that because i declared my major to be nursing the only classes they will pay for are ones required as prerequisites for there nursing program. This doesnt make sense to me because all the classes i am taking are transferable classes in case i choose to transfer to a 4 year. So i was wondering if you think it would work to undeclare my major so i can get money for my other classes??? Help Please
