else on a different carrier? Since many cellphones are locked to certain carriers, I'm curious to know if it's possible for two people on different carriers to buy cellphones at the discounted contract price, and then unlock them and trade them with each other so they both get the phone they want regardless of carrier restrictions.
For example, I'm on AT&T (can't switch since it's a family thing and I'm not the one paying for it), and I want to get the Dell Venue Pro, which is only on T-Mobile. Let's hypothetically say that there's someone on T-Mobile that wants to get an iPhone from AT&T but wants to stay on T-Mobile. Would it be possible for me to get an iPhone 4 on my contract, have the other person get the Dell Venue Pro, then unlock both phones and just swap them with each other (and pay the difference if there is any)? That way we can stick to our carriers AND get the phones we want.
