Is it possible to install an aftermarket head unit in a 2001 Ford Taurus?

I have an '01 Taurus, and i want to install an aftermarket head unit so i can play audio cd's instead of just radio. however i don't see where its possible as both my radio, and a/c control are on the same panel. how can this be done with out re-fabing the panel?
 
Your best bet is to check out E-Bay for a a unit that has a built in CD player- the swap is very easy, I put one in our 2000 Taurus 6 yrs ago, still plays great.
You'll not find any aftermarket that's a direct fit. The other alternative is using an FM transmitter (plugs into the cigarette lighter) and an I-pod with your recorded music.
